Director of Sport

Onehunga High School is seeking an experienced, motivated and strategic Director of Sport to take sport at our school to the next level.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the next phase of sporting development at OHS. With significant investment in our sports teams, coaching, athlete development programmes and outstanding new sporting facilities, our goal is to establish Onehunga High School as one of Auckland's leading sporting schools.

We are looking for a strategic thinker and strong leader who can help us achieve this goal. The successful applicant will lead and manage all aspects of school sport, strengthen participation and performance, develop our coaching programmes and build a culture of sporting excellence. A key responsibility will be leading our Sports Academies and developing all sports programmes, creating opportunities for students to develop their sporting abilities and achieve at the highest levels.

About the position

The Director of Sport is supported by a Sports Coordinator and works closely with school leadership, teaching staff, coaches and external sporting organisations.

The position is open to either a registered teacher, with teaching hours to be negotiated, or a specialist sports administrator. Preference will be given to applicants with a teaching background and experience in secondary school sport.
