Principal Release - Kaiako (Year 0-8)

Te Kura o Whakaoho Rahi | Broad Bay School is a small school located on the beautiful Otago Peninsula that prides itself on its sense of community and highly values our connection to the environment. We live strongly by our school values of whakamana, manaaki, kaitiaki and whakaoho.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced kaiako to join our tumuaki | principal in leading learning in our multi-level Years 0–8 class. This is a new chapter for our kura, and we are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunities that a small, multi-level school can offer.

Our ideal kaiako will have experience teaching across multiple year levels, with particular strength and confidence in junior teaching. You will be committed to fostering te reo Māori, tikanga and mātauraka Māori throughout school life and the curriculum.

Teachers who flourish at the school build strong, respectful learning relationships with their tamariki and whānau. You will bring sound pedagogy, an inclusive approach to education and a genuine passion for the environment and our local community. You will enjoy working collaboratively as part of a small, close-knit team and be willing to contribute across all aspects of school life.

Positivity, initiative, flexibility and a ‘can do’ attitude are essential. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who will enjoy the opportunities and relationships that come with teaching in a small school and who will bring energy, curiosity and care to our kura.

This position qualifies for the Teacher Bonding Scheme (TBS). The eligible teacher recruited into this vacancy will receive annual payments accumulating to a maximum of $40,000 (before tax) after 5 years. See Teacher Bonding Scheme for more information.
