Māpua School is a vibrant, community-focused full primary school of approximately 250 ākonga, nestled in the beautiful coastal village of Māpua, between Nelson and Motueka.

We are proud of our supportive, collaborative staff culture, our wonderful tamariki and our strong connections with whānau and the wider community. Relationships come first at Māpua School, and we work hard to ensure every ākonga feels known, valued and supported to thrive.

We are looking for a teacher who:

Builds strong, positive relationships with ākonga, colleagues and whānau.

Delivers engaging, high-quality teaching, with sound knowledge of literacy and mathematics.

Embraces inclusive, culturally responsive practice and celebrates the diversity of learners.

Is collaborative, adaptable and keen to contribute to a positive team culture.

Values creativity, student agency, curiosity and learning beyond the classroom.

Brings enthusiasm, a sense of humour and a willingness to get involved in wider school life.

Our school values underpin everything we do:

Respectful – Whakaute

Resilient – Manawaroa

Ready to Learn – Rite ki te Ako.

The position is likely to be in either our Awa Team (Years 0–3) or Moana Team (Years 4–6). Please indicate your preferred teaching level in your application, or whether you would be happy to teach in either team.

We would love to hear from you if you are a positive, people-focused kaiako who wants to make a difference in a welcoming and forward-thinking kura.

Visits to our school are warmly encouraged.
