Kōwhai Intermediate Auckland

Learning Area Specialist Teacher

  • Full time
  • Permanent

About the role

Are you a passionate, engaging teacher who loves empowering intermediate-aged students? Or are you ready to take an exciting new step in your teaching journey?

We are seeking a learning area specialist teacher who strives for excellence in their practice. Someone well-planned, organised, and dedicated to creating an inspiring, high-quality fun learning environment. Our preference is Pūtaiao | Science, however we are open to all areas of specialised teaching.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant new direction in education, transitioning from teaching across all curriculum areas to specialising in what you love most. Whether your strengths lie in Science, Technology, Inquiry, English, Maths, or another passion, you will have the space to deepen your expertise and pass that genuine enthusiasm onto our learners.

A small part of your role will be some classroom release.

At Kōwhai we believe in living our values: Kairangi, Manaaki and Ārahi

Kairangi (Excellence): Holding high expectations for all learners, striving for quality, and fostering an environment where both teachers and students pursue their highest potential. Joining our kura is an opportunity to specialize in your curriculum passions within a forward-thinking school focused on high-quality learning

Manaaki (Care and Hospitality): Nurturing wellbeing, showing kindness, and building a welcoming, inclusive community where every student feels safe, valued, and respected. You will work alongside a supportive, collaborative team that genuinely cares for one another and our wider school community.

Ārahi (Leadership and Guidance): Leading by example, guiding our tamariki with wisdom and encouragement, and mentoring them to become confident, active learners. Here, you will have the opportunity to guide, inspire, and shape the future of our young people.
