About the role

Pacific Advance Secondary School (PASS) is seeking an enthusiastic, relational, and culturally responsive Year 9–10 Core Subjects Teacher to join our kura from Term 1, 2027.

This 2-year fixed-term position is created specifically to strengthen our academic support for incoming bilingual learners. We are seeking an educator with expertise in TESSOL or language acquisition to refine and build these vital programmes.

You will teach across core New Zealand curriculum areas in Years 9–10, contributing to an engaging, integrated junior programme. We welcome applicants who build strong relationships with rangatahi and whānau and hold high expectations for Māori and Pacific learners.

Key requirements

Background/expertise in TESSOL or language acquisition to support bilingual learners.

Ability to teach across Year 9–10 core NZ curriculum areas.

Strong culturally responsive and relational pedagogy.

Commitment to PASS’s Special Character and Pacific-centred approach.

Current NZ practising certificate (or eligibility).

Desirable: Biliteracy in Samoan, Te Reo Māori, or other Pacific languages.

Terms align with the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement.
