Whītau School Canterbury

Teacher / Kaiako - Phase 1 or Phase 2

  • Full time
  • Fixed term

About the role

At Whītau School, "Learning to go places" is at the heart of everything we do.

We are a vibrant Linwood school community where our tamariki and staff live our core values every day: Be a Learner (Whakaako), Be Responsible (Whakahaere), and Be Respectful (Whakaute).

We are looking for a dynamic and relational kaiako / teacher to be part of our awesome teaching team. You will foster a stimulating and inclusive learning environment where our ākonga can flourish. You will have a deep commitment to child-centred learning, strong pedagogical practice in literacy and numeracy, and a dedication to supporting the holistic well-being (hauora) of all ākonga.

At Whītau School, teachers work as a community of learners and learn from each other as well as generously sharing our knowledge and skills. You will demonstrate reflective practice through critical questioning, use assessment data to guide your teaching, access professional readings, apply self review practices, and actively participate in professional learning development.

You will have a positive attitude, strong organisational skills, healthy work-life balance, and a good sense of humour, while bringing a sense of fun, energy, and joy to our school, understanding that balancing well-being and work is an essential part of a healthy life.
