Not this school! Our wee rural kura, based in the heart of wine country and right next to the local golf course, is seeking an experienced educator who is passionate about, or likes the attraction of a rural school. You will be teaching in our Year 5-8 class 4 days a week and will have professional autonomy to teach four curriculum levels from Term 1 2027.

We are currently in the process of refreshing our vision, values and brand at Wairau Valley School so this provides a great opportunity to lead genuine change alongside the principal and other staff. We have a really strong community, great kids, and a board who are dedicated to ensuring all tamariki of the Wairau Valley are successful.

You will have New Zealand experience with Positive Practices for Learning (PB4L), demonstrate culturally responsive relationships, and be passionate about providing students with rich learning experiences across the curriculum. Whether through music, technology, science, the arts, outdoor education or authentic rural learning opportunities, you'll recognise that some of the most memorable learning happens beyond reading, writing and mathematics. We trust our educators as professionals and value initiative, creativity and a willingness to make learning meaningful for our students.

This isn't a role for someone wanting to simply deliver a programme. This is an opportunity to grow your leadership both inside and outside the classroom, contribute to school-wide direction, and be part of a community that genuinely values its school.
