Head of Learning Support

Commencing January 2027

Botany Downs Secondary College seeks an experienced and passionate educational leader to lead our Learning Support Department, which includes the SENCO, SAC Coordinator and Learning Assistant team. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator who thrives under pressure, is highly relatable, demonstrates empathy, and brings resilience, determination (with strong advocacy skills) and a practical, solutions-focused approach to their work.

The Head of Learning Support provides strategic and operational leadership across the College, ensuring students with diverse learning needs can access, participate in and achieve within the curriculum and wider school community. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with students, whānau, staff, external agencies and specialist services to foster inclusion, equity, belonging and strengthen our inclusive, school-wide practice.

Applicants must hold a current New Zealand Teaching Council practising certificate and have proven leadership experience in learning support, SENCO, inclusive education or a related area.
