Food Tech Teacher, Permanent with F/T Head of Department responsibility

Westlake Boys High School is seeking an experienced Food Technology teacher to join our Technology Faculty in a permanent teaching position from Term 1, 2027, with the additional opportunity to take on the role of Head of Department – Food for a 12 month fixed term.

We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about Food Technology and can deliver engaging learning experiences across a range of year levels.

The fixed-term Head of Department responsibility provides an opportunity for an applicant with strong leadership skills, or someone looking to further develop their leadership experience, to support curriculum delivery, guide teaching and learning, and contribute to the ongoing development of the department. The Head of Department responsibility is offered on a fixed-term basis while the school reviews its longer-term leadership arrangements.

Applicants must be NZ registered, fully conversant with the NZ Curriculum and have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Secondary Teacher's Collective Agreement (STCA) 2025–2027.

Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement

The base salary for trained and registered teachers currently ranges from NZD64,119 to NZD107,886.00, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

Individuals’ actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment by Education Payroll once a role is confirmed.
