Teacher in Year 5-7 area

We are a state-integrated Catholic Year 1-8 school in Timaru. This position will be in a class in the Year 5-7 area of the school.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative teacher to join our team for 2027 while a teacher is on leave. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to effective teaching practices, positive classroom management, and have a good sense of humour.

Key skills and expertise:

Structured Literacy: Sound knowledge and formal training in Structured Literacy practices, with proven experience applying these within the refreshed English Curriculum.

Mathematics pedagogy: Demonstrated alignment with the pedagogical approach of Rob Proffitt-White. We want a teacher who moves beyond simply following a commercial programme by embedding Rich Routines, explicit teaching, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning into their mathematics programme.

Culture and values: Familiarity or a willingness to be involved with the E Tū Tāngata mindset, promoting a culture where every individual knows their value and supports others.

Collaboration: A genuine team player who works well alongside colleagues and actively engages with innovative ideas.
