Waiheke Primary School Auckland
Year 7/8 Teacher
- Full time
- Permanent
- Suitable for beginning teachers
About the role
Are you the kind of teacher who believes great learning grows from strong relationships, high expectations, and a deep sense of belonging?
Waiheke Primary School is seeking an exceptional, passionate teacher to join our vibrant island learning community in our intermediate team.
At Waiheke Primary, our values of Whanaungatanga, Rangatiratanga, and Kaitiakitanga are at the heart of all we do. We are proud to be home to an outstanding team of committed, caring staff, a highly supportive parent community, and tamariki who are eager to learn, grow, and thrive.
Our ideal teacher will:
Build authentic relationships with tamariki, whānau, colleagues, and the wider community through Whanaungatanga.
Inspire learners to strive for excellence, develop agency, and achieve their potential through Rangatiratanga.
Demonstrate Kaitiakitanga by nurturing people, place, and the environment.
Deliver engaging, responsive teaching that meets the diverse needs of learners.
Create an inclusive classroom where every child feels safe, valued, and successful.
Be reflective, collaborative, and committed to ongoing professional growth.
Embrace culturally responsive practice and contribute positively to the life of our kura.
Our relationships with iwi and whānau are central to who we are. We have a long-standing partnership with Piritahi Marae and are committed to strengthening our relationship with Ngāti Paoa as we continue to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and embed Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori, and mātauranga Māori throughout our school. We are looking for someone to continue this work and uplift the mana of te ao māori in our kura.
In return, you will join a supportive, high-performing team in a unique island community where relationships matter, every learner is known, and every contribution is valued.
If you are a teacher who wants to make a genuine difference and be part of something special, we would love to hear from you.
