Small Group Intervention Teacher - Literacy and Maths

Otaua School seeks an enthusiastic, skilled, and highly motivated teacher to join our team in a full-time, fixed-term intervention position in 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who believes every child can make progress and enjoys working with students in small groups to accelerate learning, build confidence, and experience success.

The successful applicant will work across the school, providing targeted teaching and support, with a particular focus on Literacy and Mathematics.

We are looking for someone who:

Has strong curriculum knowledge and effective teaching practice, particularly in literacy and mathematics

Is BSLA (Better Start Literacy Approach) trained, with the knowledge and confidence to effectively implement targeted literacy interventions.

Understands how to use assessment information to identify learning needs, plan targeted interventions and monitor progress.

Is skilled in delivering explicit, systematic and evidence-informed teaching tailored to small-group needs.

Builds positive relationships with students and fosters confidence, engagement and success.

Works collaboratively with classroom teachers and school leaders to ensure interventions complement classroom learning.

Is reflective, adaptable and committed to making a measurable difference to student achievement.
