Junior School Teachers – 2 positions

Waitara Central School is seeking two enthusiastic, passionate and committed junior school teachers to join our team in Term 1, 2027.

We are looking for teachers who

Have sound pedagogical knowledge, high expectations and a passion for junior school teaching.

Build strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau and colleagues.

Demonstrate effective classroom management and embrace restorative practices supporting positive behaviour, regulation and re-engagement in learning.

Value Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori and te reo Māori, with a genuine commitment to incorporating these into everyday practice. Proficiency is not essential, but willingness to learn and develop cultural capability is.

Have knowledge of Structured Literacy, including BSLA, and Structured Mathematics, or are willing to develop their practice.

Embrace our schoolwide implementation of Colourful Semantics for all learners. Experience is advantageous but not essential; a willingness to learn and consistently implement this approach in classroom teaching is expected.

Use assessment effectively to respond to learning needs and accelerate progress.

Create inclusive, engaging environments supporting diverse learning and wellbeing needs.

Are flexible, reflective, solution-focused team players who communicate positively and support colleagues.

Bring enthusiasm, resilience, initiative and a sense of humour.

Experience with HERO would be advantageous but is not essential.
