SENCO and Learning Support Coordinator

Commencing Term 1, 2027, Rutherford Intermediate is seeking an experienced teacher passionate about inclusive education, student wellbeing and helping every learner succeed.

As our SENCO and Learning Support Coordinator you will work closely with teachers, learning assistants, whānau and external agencies to identify and respond to the needs of students requiring additional learning support. You will help ensure our students receive the right support, resources and opportunities to thrive in an inclusive classroom environment.

The role is 0.8 SENCO and Learning Support Coordinator and 0.2 classroom teacher release. How this time is structured across the week will be discussed with the successful applicant.

We are looking for someone who:

Understands and is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working within a Te Ao Māori context.

Holds a current New Zealand Practising Certificate.

Is an experienced and successful classroom teacher with a strong understanding of inclusive practice.

Builds positive, trusting relationships with students, whānau and colleagues.

Is highly organised and able to manage learning support processes effectively.

Has experience working with learning support systems, funding and external agencies.

Can work collaboratively while also showing initiative, sound judgement and leadership.

Has a strong commitment to equity, inclusion and culturally responsive practice.

Lead the Rutherford Learning Hub, delivering targeted literacy and numeracy acceleration for priority learners.
