- Permanent
About the role
Lead with purpose. Make a lasting difference.
Salisbury School is a specialist residential school in Richmond, Nelson-Tasman, supporting girls aged 8–15 from across Aotearoa New Zealand who have complex learning, social and behavioural needs. Our integrated learning and residential environment provides individualised pathways that nurture wellbeing, build capability and empower young people to realise their potential. Our values of manaakitanga, kaha, mahi tahi and mana whenua underpin everything we do.
We are seeking an experienced, relational and strategic leader to join our senior leadership team as Residential Manager / Kaihautū Whare.
This is an opportunity to lead a high-performing specialist residential team where care, connection and learning are inseparable. You will provide strategic direction for our residential programme, develop team capability, and ensure our practice reflects our bespoke Living Well Residential Curriculum, trauma-informed approaches and commitment to positive outcomes for every student.
You will bring proven leadership experience, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to embed effective systems, analyse data, navigate complexity and lead confidently through change. You will balance high expectations with support, use evidence to strengthen practice, and foster effective partnerships with whānau, home schools and external agencies.
As Salisbury enters an exciting period with a full new rebuild of our residential facilities, you will help shape the future of our residential provision, strengthen leadership across teams and ensure our young people experience a safe, nurturing and empowering environment well connected to our day school and our One Campus, One Journey ethos.
If you are passionate about relational leadership, experienced in working with young people with complex needs, and motivated to make a meaningful difference in their lives, we would love to hear from you.
Teacher registration is not required for this position. We welcome applications from experienced leaders with backgrounds in residential care, social services or related fields.
