Years 5 to 8 Kaiako for awesome Rural School (0.6FTTE)

We are a small rural school nestled a stone's throw from the Rangitīkei River in the quaint village of Mangaweka. Our tamariki know our names, we know their whānau and our team genuinely looks after each other. We are looking for a kaiako (Principal release position) for our Years 5-8 ākonga who brings warmth, curiosity and creative energy to our kura.

What we are looking for in a kaiako

A registered (or provisionally registered) teacher

Preferably experience working in a mixed year level classroom - but we'll back the right person to grow into it.

Confidence in teaching literacy and numeracy, with the skill to pitch learning at the right level across a range of learners.

A genuine passion for Te Reo me ngā tikanga Māori.

Enthusiasm for creating exciting, innovative & responsive learning programmes for our ākonga.

Being creative in your practice and open to learning. Knowing the importance of adapting to the needs of the learners in front of you.

Being a strong team player - we are a small close team where everyone's contribution matters.

A genuine connection to nature and place.

Strong partnerships with parents and whānau.

Willingness to contribute to the wider life of our beautiful rural kura.

Alignment with our vision and values - this is really important to us.
