Principal | Tumuaki – Taupaki School

Growing for the Future

Country heart. Strong community. Big aspirations. Uniquely Taupaki.

Just beyond the city, Taupaki School offers something increasingly rare – the warmth and connection of a country school, combined with a forward-thinking approach to teaching and learning.

We are a thriving Year 1 to 8 school of approximately 250 students, with a proud history stretching back to 1899. Our people know one another, our staff know their learners, and our community is deeply connected to its school. From Ag Day and our iconic Monster Fireworks to sport, technology, the arts, EOTC and the outdoors, we value the rich breadth of the Kiwi school experience.

At the same time, Taupaki is a school moving confidently forward. Evidence-informed practice, high-impact teaching, structured learning, positive behaviour and wellbeing approaches provide strong foundations for continued improvement.

We are looking for a principal who will:

build strong, trusting relationships and be visible and involved in school life

lead with integrity, kindness, fairness and courage

provide strong educational leadership and hold high expectations for every learner

value and grow our talented staff

strengthen culturally responsive practice and our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi

lead change thoughtfully – knowing what to protect, what to embed and where to grow

bring the strategic thinking and long-term vision to ensure Taupaki continues to thrive.

If you are a leader who values people, place and possibility, we invite you to come and discover what makes Taupaki uniquely Taupaki.
