Balfour Primary (U2) school is situated on a spacious, well-resourced, and about to be renovated site in the small rural Northern Southland township of Balfour. Our school has a strong sense of community and a very active Home and School. Balfour School provides quality education for Y1–6 students, with the Balfour playcentre also on site. We have a current role of 79.

The board is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate principal who can continue to build on our current strengths as well as taking the steps and initiative to shift our school forward into the future. We are looking for a relational leader who is passionate about education.

Have in-depth NZ Curriculum knowledge
Have the capability to lead and build capacity in our high-quality staff
Have a commitment to te ao Māori and tikanga Māori
Be able to build strong relationships with the local community
Be a highly visible role model who ensures our school is a safe and welcoming place
Have high expectations for learning and behaviour
Have effective business and financial skills including familiarity with MOE compliance.
The position starts at the beginning of term 1, 2024. You must have a NZ work visa with minimum 3 years remaining and be available for interviews at the school first two weeks of term 4.
