Awatere Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic session facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment for learning and positively support the Playcentre education programme. 

Start date: 7 March 2023.

Location: Awatere Playcentre, Marlborough.

Days & hours: Tuesdays 9am to 1pm and Fridays 9am to 1pm. During school term time only. This is a permanent position.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or equivalent, or higher Early Childhood Education qualification;
  • Or hold a Primary Teaching qualification and have completed or be prepared to complete the Primary Teaching Bridging Award.
  • Must preferably hold a current First Aid Certificate, or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy; Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;

Great time management and with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience at centre level communicating with both tamariki and adults;

An ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako.

A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required; Confidence when speaking within a group.

A passion for supporting Te Reo Maori and tikanga and engaging all whanau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.
