Te Whanau Tupu Ngatahi o Aotearoa - Playcentre Aotearoa, is a well known and loved early childhood organisation with over 80 years of supporting parents to take the lead in their children’s learning through play. 

Position details:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic session facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Titirangi & Henderson Playcentre community. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment for learning and positively support the playcentre education programme. You will model playcentre philosophy and good practice while supporting whānau to gain confidence to have a go themselves.

Start date: 31 January 2023.
Location: Playcentres within the Titirangi & Henderson areas.
Days & hours: Various days available, 2–4 session per week, 3–4 hours each session. Term time only.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or equivalent, or higher early childhood education qualification
  • Or hold a primary teaching qualification and have completed or be prepared to complete the Primary Teaching Bridging Award
  • Preferably hold a current first aid certificate or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for playcentre and our philosophy
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Great time management and with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience at centre level communicating with both tamariki and adults
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new playcentre qualification requirements as required;
  • A passion for supporting te reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.
