Kaihautu Matauranga/Education Navigators

The Kaihautu Matauranga will be a member of the MMMT Whānau Engagement Project Team. The primary role of the kaihautu is to work within a team that supports our learners and their whānau in education, with a focus on identifying and re-engaging learners who have become disconnected from education due to COVID19 and getting them into positive education pathways.

The Whānau Engagement project team will establish effective collaboration and partnerships to fashion programmes of support that empower our ākonga and whānau towards educational success. We believe that our approach will bring successful outcomes not only for the ākonga identified through this project but will also create sustainable pathways of success for their wider whānau and future generations.

Our project is about whānau empowerment through education. As Te Ahiwaru we will use mana enhancing ways of working together where whānau feel respected, valued and supported to engage in positive education for our tamariki/mokopuna.  

Our project will ensure our whānau have a voice and are confident decision makers. The principle of partnership is paramount. Partnership through quality relationships that focus on ākonga and whānau wellbeing, belonging and connectedness. 

These are full-time, permanent positions with flexible hours.

The successful applicants will:

  • have experience and a passion for working in education settings
  • be effective communicators both oral and written
  • be IT literate, maintaining and creating databases, creating documents and digital tools 
  • effective at building relationships with whānau of all ages and backgrounds
  • be a great listener
  • be of fit character and have high integrity
  • be a great team member with a strong work ethic.

Salary will be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
