ECE team leader - teaching and planning

We are looking for an inspiring team leader, someone who is committed to best practice, who naturally inspires/motivates colleagues, is a great organiser and who will use their positive energy to build relationships with the team, tamariki and whānua to support positive learning outcomes for all.

We are a family orientated community based centre that has a long established history in our local community. The centre is mixed age 0–5, and licensed for 30 tamariki. Our programme is based on the “calm classroom approach” which focuses on promoting social and emotional competence within a calm, consistent environment.  

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in leading respecting and inspiring a teaching team
• Dedication to being present for and passionate about empowering tamariki
• The skill and ability to build respectful and supportive relationships with tamariki, whānau, colleagues and the wider community
• Current knowledge of and skills in using Te Whāriki, he mapuna te tamaiti, te korerorero, the standards for the teaching profession and internal evaluation and review
• Proven knowledge and skills in assessment and planning for children’s learning
• Experience working with 0–2 year olds
• A BEd/DipTch (ECE) with current certification
• A full drivers licence
• Evidence of full vaccination status
• A can do attitude!!

This is a 35 hour per week position, 28hrs contact with tamariki, 2 non contact hours and 5 office hours.

The centre operates for 46 weeks of the year (the second week off at every term break and 3 weeks shutdown at Christmas).
