Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school. We provide personalised learning programmes through distance education from early childhood level to year 13, including young adult and adult learners.
Early childhood Te Kura offers a free, individualised programme for ākonga/learners aged 2–6 years old. Learners enroll with the programme for various reasons including distance, itinerant, high health needs, special development needs, special circumstances.
Due to an increase in enrolments for the start of 2022, we are looking for a qualified fixed-term early childhood kaiako to work 24 hours per week during term 1. There is the possibility of an extension should our enrolments continue to increase over that period.
This is an exciting role for an experienced ECE kaiako who will work in partnership with parents/supervisors/whānau and develop an individual programme of learning for ākonga, using the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki– He whāriki mātauranga mō ngā mokopuna o Aotearoa.
This role requires someone who works collaboratively in a team, is willing to learn, is a problem solver, share ideas and builds respectful and reciprocal relationships.
Our programme uses various online communication tools, so you need to be able to be digitally literate and capable with technology.
If you are an excellent communicator, self-motivated, show initiative, and are committed to improving education outcomes for learners, we would love to hear from you. With Te Kura working to become a bilingual organisation having proficiency or skills in te reo Māori would be highly desirable.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced kaiako to be part of our early childhood teaching team, based in Wellington. Check out the excellent employment terms for this position, Early Childhood Teachers Collective Agreement 2018 -2021 . Te Kura supports flexible working conditions.
