We are seeking an  hard materials (wood) technology teacher with a flexible growth mindset. A commitment to providing rich authentic learning contexts in an integrated way across curriculum areas is essential, as is the ability to develop and create flexible and responsive assessment practices for students as the successful applicant will be expected to co-design and co-teach connected learning modules in the junior school and senior technology classes in the senior school.

Ellesmere College is an innovative and forward-thinking, decile 8 coeducational Y7–13 school located in Leeston, approximately 30 minutes south of Christchurch. With a full school redevelopment in progress, this is an exciting time to join a progressive school and be a part of leading and designing change in New Zealand education.

Our pedagogical approach is based on strong positive relationships which provides contextualised and coherent opportunities for deep learning. Learning design is based on learner voice and agency which allows ākonga to develop skills, knowledge and qualifications. Collaborative practice is fundamental to our integrated junior curriculum and it is expected that the successful candidate will positively support the pedagogical direction and journey we are on. We strongly encourage applicants to read about our learning design on our website and/or visit the college.

Our school is community-focused and we encourage all staff to contribute to the varied learning opportunities that are offered to students in such an environment. We are a PB4L and restorative practices school and believe strongly in building and enhancing positive professional relationships with young people.

Overseas applicants must have a confirmed MIQ booking. Must be available to start on the 28 January 2022 (or by negotiation).
