Teacher support role

Ngā Tamariki is a not-for-profit community based childcare centre, which has a family focus and a supportive community. We have a team of long standing, highly driven and passionate teachers with great work conditions. Our teacher to child ratio ensures small group sizes and a calm nurturing environment where quality interactions, education and play are at the forefront of every child’s day.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic person to join our collaborative teaching team.  You will be working alongside our teaching team to actively encourage, empower and support our tamariki in their daily interactions. You will be working predominately with our O2 age group but there will be opportunities to support our U2 teaching team as well.

This is a part time role with core hours of 10.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday. There will also be opportunities to extend these hours to help cover staff absences as they arise.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience with working with children
• Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, teaching and child development
• An honest, reliable and flexible attitude
• Well organized and highly motivated
• Any previous teaching experience is a bonus
• Understanding of the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace
• Demonstrates positive relationships with children
• Works well in a team environment, communicating well with other professionals and contributing to the overall success of the team
• Ability to have positive and respectful conversations with team members, parents and children.
