This is an opportunity for you to be central in the training of ECE teacher trainees. As a lecturer and cultural advisor your experience, knowledge and passion of both the ECE sector and te reo Māori me ngā tikanga Māori will ensure future kaiako have the understanding, knowledge and tools to ensure our tamariki are provided with a culturally responsive learning environment and are able to grow up as competent learners, strong in their identity, language and culture.

You will be well supported with a network of other pouako throughout Aotearoa who share your vision of teaching and providing leadership in mātauranga Māori me te reo Māori and will be joining one of NZ's top early childhood teacher education providers, who have been awarded the highest quality rating by the NZ Qualifications Authority. As pouako your role will include a research component giving you an opportunity to tie your Masters or PhD study to your role and contribute to Te Rito Maioha’s research strategy. Research will include both external and internal projects.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Knowledge of ngā tikanga and a competent level of te reo Māori
• Knowledge of tikanga within the Ōtepoti rohe an advantage
• Experience within the ECE sector and an ability to contextualise te reo Māori me ngā tikanga Māori in early childhood education
• Knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• NZ teacher registration and current practising certificate
• A current full drivers license and vehicle.
