School counsellor

The college is seeking a qualified counsellor to provide mental health and well-being support for students.
This part-time role would see the successful candidate working as part of a cohesive and dedicated team of counsellors and nurse in the student well-being centre.
The position is a term-time only role working 9am–3pm, initially for two set days a week (Thursdays and Fridays) with the possibility of the role becoming full-time in the future.

The Counselling role includes:

• One-on-one student counselling
• Small group counselling
• Whole school and year group programme facilitation

Liaising with:

• Teaching staff
• Parents and whānau
• External agencies.

You will need the following skills and attributes:

• Certified counselling qualification (or be working towards one)
• Membership of a professional counselling association eg NZAC, NZCCA (or be working towards this)
• Current practising certificate
• Engagement in regular supervision
• Excellent communication skills
• Collegiality
• High levels of motivation and enthusiasm
• Good working knowledge of MS products ie Word, gmail and google docs
• Double Covid Vaccination (Evidence required).
