Te One is a 3 teacher school, of approximately 40 pupils.
Te One is the largest of the 3 schools on the Chatham Islands, the others are Kaingaroa (1 hour north east) and Pitt Island (20 minute flight south east). Te One School is served by the Ministry of Education, Christchurch division.
We are seeking a teacher who is ready to engage our tamariki in exciting, meaningful learning opportunities within our unique environment. Our school includes a woodwork and home economics block to support the senior students with their specialised technology education. Our senior students are charged with leadership roles which we are looking to enhance.
The successful teacher will need to have an understanding and appreciation of rural communities, take the time to get to know the individuals in our learning and wider community, have meaningful knowledge and experiences in te reo and tikanga Māori, the willingness to learn Moriori Re and Tikane, and ability to work productively and collaboratively with staff.
A furnished school house with reasonable rent available.
Entitlement to Chatham Island allowances including subsidised power alongside other associated living requirements.
Position starts term 2, or earlier by negotiation.
