Established in 1988, Life Education Trust is a charitable organisation that works in schools across NZ to educate and inspire children and young people to make positive choices. They support children’s health education by delivering engaging and memorable interactive learning programmes such as Healthy Harold in primary schools and Alcohol and Substance (SMASHED) and Financial Literacy (SMART$) in secondary schools.

Reporting to the Chief Executive and with the support of the Programme Development team, you will lead and support the successful development, review and delivery of Life Education’s existing and new learning programmes as well as the professional development for their educators. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Chief Executive to establish the strategic direction of learning and development
  • Lead the development and implementation of Life Education’s programmes
  • Lead the development of teaching resources used in Life Education’s programmes and initiatives
  • Lead and facilitate the annual Educator conference and seminar programme
  • Ensure Educator’s professional development and teacher registration practices are achieved to a high standard
  • Develop shared projects with our partners and engage with key sector stakeholders to ensure Life Education is at the forefront of health education and emerging issues.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Wellington Central. Life Education are offering a competitive salary and a range of benefits for the right person. 

Person profile: 

  • Proven experience in a NZ primary and/or secondary school environment
  • Must hold a current (or be eligible) for a NZ teacher’s registration
  • Able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the NZ Curriculum
  • Sound knowledge of the NZ school setting
  • A track record of developing and implementing resources for learners and learning programmes for various audiences
  • Experience in project or programme management, with effective planning and organisational abilities
  • Able to travel as required to perform the role (e.g. 1 day a fortnight).
