NKA is seeking an inspiring and reflective teacher to join the team at this kindergarten in Kensington, Whangarei.

Mairtown’s environment is welcoming and home-like with a large grassed outdoor area providing ample opportunity for tamariki to explore, climb, be social or find quiet spaces. This kindergarten has a strong tradition of providing innovation in practice. Teachers are advocates for supporting the relevance of play as the primary tool for learning, building strong relationships with whānau and community and the importance of being immersed and engaged with nature. Our kindergarten is a Bronze Enviroschool and dedicated to sustainable practices.

The kindergarten has a team of 5 teachers and part-time administrator. The kindergarten operates five 6-hour sessions Monday to Friday, catering for a roll of 40 children between two and six years of age. The kindergarten is operational, 48 weeks per year. 

We are a part of a network of 25 kindergartens within the NKA. The kindergarten is supported by professional practice and management teams. NKA adheres to the employment conditions as offered in the Kindergarten Teacher, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers Collective Agreement 2019–2022.

Applicants must hold a recognised New Zealand ECE qualification (minimum Dip Teaching ECE), current practising certificate, first aid certificate and provide evidence of full Covid 19 vaccination status.
