Our head teacher at Te Uru is retiring in March which means we are looking for a passionate and innovative leader. Te Uru is one of our centres of approximately 40 children O2. It is one of five centres that make up the Otago University Childcare Association (OUCA). All of our centres are located on campus and prioritise enrolments of children of University staff and students. The head teacher leads a team of 8 very committed, qualified, registered and experienced teachers and is supported by the four head teachers of our other centres, the OUCA manager and administrator. All of our centres are purpose-built, receive funding for 100% qualified registered teachers and opt in to pay parity.

We are looking for a head teacher who:

  • Is New Zealand ECE qualified and registered
  • Has current experience in a leadership role
  • Has experience in and a commitment to supporting teachers with their professional growth
  • Has a professional commitment to provision of high quality early childhood education
  • Is able to implement the philosophy that includes continuing to grow strong relationships with whānau
  • Shows a commitment to te reo me ōna tikanga Māori.

The position is full-time (40 hours) and includes 13½ hours non contact per week. It starts 7 March and there will be a week with the current head teacher providing support. The OUCA is part of the ECE Collective agreement.
