Titiro Whakamua Looking Forward Early Childhood Centre is a unique community-based centre established to support the Titiro Whakamua Teen Parent School (which is a secondary school educational facility for teen parents in the Hutt Valley).

• Are you the kind of teacher who would like to work alongside the teen parent school to care for the needs of our vulnerable infants while their mothers continue their education?

We have a beautifully designed centre that is a truly a home away from home for our tamariki and teachers. Our centre is warm, welcoming and a haven for all who enter. A positive attitude and strong relationship skills will hold you in good stead for this role of leading our dedicated team. 

Your skills and attributes: 

• Support your team to manage children's routines
• Work alongside your team in planning and implementing learning experiences related to children's interests & strengths
• Create a culture of building meaningful relationships with tamariki and whanau
• Role model desire and passion for quality practice standards and commitment to the principles of Te Whāriki
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of programme planning/assessment, pedagogy and curriculum
• Hold a Bachelor/ Diploma of Education Teaching (ECE) and a current registration
• Have a minimum of 3 years NZ ECE teaching experience
• Ability to teach children in a positive, nurturing way
• Must be passionate, caring, and have knowledge of ECE regulations, policies and procedures
• Proactive in your own professional learning journey
• Leadership experience is ideal but not mandatory
