Are you an innovative, passionate and responsive teacher interested in the holistic wellbeing of secondary-aged students? Do you enjoy fostering positive relationships with students, staff, whānau, enrolling schools and other agencies?
The Hutt Valley Activity Centre is located in Lower Hutt and is currently managed by the BoT of Naenae College. The centre enrols a maximum of 20 students (Y9–11) at a time, providing a short, two-term intensive support model for students to reflect on their attendance, behaviour and learn strategies to enable a positive return to school. This position requires a teacher with firm but fair student leadership skills, superb relational pedagogy, and a passion for student success.
The successful applicant must have highly effective team management skills, be capable of developing a coherent and collaborative team approach and must be able to support teaching junior students with core subjects supported by Te Kura. Specialist knowledge in art, health, science, technology and PE will be an advantage. Flexibility and a sense of humour are essential. This position is appropriate for primary or secondary trained teachers. The position commences at the earliest on 28 January or by mutual agreement.
