Academic: The college is a member of the NPDL Global npdl.global/ International cluster and it is committed to deep learning at all levels. Our curriculum includes the intentional teaching of learning competencies along with a commitment to learning partnering, authentic contexts, presentation and publishing of work. Staff will be expected to participate and contribute to cross-curricular learning. Our academic tracking operates from Y7–13 and is real time, predictive, comparative and now tracks 6 learning competencies at junior levels. We expect to achieve NCEA academic results that are well above national averages. All teachers are issued a laptop and they are expected to use technology to enhance learning on a period by period basis. BBC is a google school.
Pastoral: We are a relationships based school that has been using restorative practices since 2001. Staff are trained in restorative practices and use these on a daily basis.
Facilities: The college has well-resourced classrooms and large grounds. We are experiencing roll growth and have started work on the process of provision of six new classrooms.
Co-curricular: Students participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities from sporting, clubs or service areas. All staff are expected to contribute to a co-curricular area in the school.
Citizenship: The college is committed to producing well-rounded citizens and these attributes are encouraged, taught and rewarded at prizegivings.
