We are seeking an innovative and passionate teacher to teach English (please state supporting subjects) as part of our Junior Ako & Connected Learning Module Teams and to a senior level. A commitment to providing rich authentic learning contexts in an integrated way across curriculum areas is essential, as is the ability to develop and create flexible and responsive assessment practices for students.

Ellesmere College is an innovative and forward-thinking, decile 8 coeducational Y7–13 school located in Leeston, approximately 30 minutes south of Christchurch. With a school redevelopment in progress, this is an exciting time to join a progressive school and be a part of leading and designing change in New Zealand education.

Our pedagogical approach is based on strong positive relationships which provides contextualised and coherent opportunities for deep, culturally sustaining learning. Learning design is based on learner voice and agency which allows ākonga to develop skills, knowledge and qualifications. We believe in the concept of ako and that we are all learners. Collaborative practice is fundamental to our integrated junior curriculum and, as educators, we know we can always learn from all other stakeholders. We strongly encourage applicants to read about our learning design on our website and/or visit the College and it is expected that the successful candidate will positively support the pedagogical direction the college is taking.

Our school is community-focused and we encourage all staff to contribute to the varied learning opportunities that are offered to students in such an environment. We are a PB4L & restorative practices school and believe strongly in building and enhancing positive professional relationships with young people.

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions prospective applicants should source information from NZ Immigration and MBIE websites prior to applying.
