The Awhina Centre is home for our ORS-funded students and students whose learning needs require a smaller and more specialised environment. Awhina students participate in the wider life of a school that values inclusivity and diversity - they join mainstream classes, participate in wider school events and activities and oversee the school’s recycling programme.
Our students are supported by a small team of experienced and caring Awhina staff and work under a wider umbrella of learning support. We are seeking a specialist ORS teacher to join our Awhina team, bring new ideas and experiences, and help develop and deliver appropriate learning programmes and opportunities for our students.
The successful applicant will be:
A teacher who is experienced in working with ORS students, or is interested in working in this area
Passionate about supporting students to develop the key skills needed to become as independent as possible
Experienced in developing IEP’s
Skilled at developing and maintaining relationships with families/whanau and others in and outside of the school.
There are opportunities for leadership within the Awhina team. The position commences at the start of term 1, 2022.
