Do you have a passion for the overall design, creation, and implementation of the curriculum? Are you looking to progress in leadership and supporting experienced kaiako to ensure curriculum alignment and consistency across the centre?

We have a unique opportunity for the right candidate to join our whanau community. Pipitea is a small non-profit parent/staff co-operative in Thorndon for 29 tamariki 6 months to 6 years, and 9 permanent kaiako.

You will become part of Pipitea Childcare Centre leadership team. To lead and promote a strong centre culture and team alignment to our values through the work you do - leading from the front and enabling a strong focus on curriculum implementation.  

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to lead an educational programme in a cohesive culture, using a range of leadership styles.
  • Proven ability to lead with a sense of purpose and direction, and the ability to influence.
  • Proven mentoring skills with an ability to support and develop kaiako from diverse backgrounds and experience levels to improve teaching outcomes for all.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of theory relating to childhood education and care, professional standards, and approved learning frameworks, and understanding of best practices approaches to educational design, delivery, teaching and learning.
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills with a professional approach, and an understanding of what tamariki and whānau needs.
  • Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) or Dip Tch Level 7 (ECE) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of the Te Whāriki curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment with demonstrated leadership of teaching excellence.
  • Leadership in networking with external centres in the community for best practice integration.
