Are you looking to be valued? Want to be part of something special? We strive to enact our philosophy, which is born from relationships – equal partnerships between children, caregivers, whānau, community and the environment. These relationships are established within a culture of kindness, through caregiving moments, rituals and our daily interactions.

We are a privately owned centre of 60 children. A community within the grounds of North Shore Hospital. A place where children are valued as free and equal human beings, supported to develop and explore in their own time and at their readiness.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to strongly role model our values within their practice
  • Have had some experience in leadership roles previously
  • Have a passion for this very unique age group
  • Be authentic, respectful and joyful
  • Have a strong understanding of internal evaluation and planning
  • Have considerable working knowledge of the principles and practices of Emmi Pikler
  • Have a commitment to providing quality early childhood education/pedagogy
  • Be able to inspire and guide their team of 2 other kaiako, lead with their heart
  • Be well-organised and able to balance the role of team leader and teacher
  • Love to reflect, learn and collaborate- learning is a journey.

In return we offer:

  • A brilliant supportive management team
  • Guidance and support moving into this role
  • Lots of PLD and support in your learning journey
  • The opportunity to work in a truly collaborative team
  • The opportunity to work in a centre whose mission is to empower and inspire everyone to learn together
  • An environment that feels like a home-away-from-home and a centre that lives and breathes its philosophy.

We will continue to search until we find the right person, with the position becoming available in the New Year with a period of transition into the role.
