We are committed to our tauira's future and seek a head of secondary Tertiary Pathways with a passion for vocational education to partner with South Auckland secondary school leaders.

In this rewarding role you will be instrumental in developing pathways for secondary school students to vocational education and training. Utilising your secondary school knowledge and networks you will be actively involved with developing and maintain strategic relationships with secondary schools, kura, the Ministry of Education, Government Agencies and other organisations to support students to transition into MIT's Secondary Tertiary Pathway programmes and subsequent progression to MIT.

A key focus will be establishing and maintaining relationships with MIT's internal stakeholders

Reporting to the DCE learner experience and success you have two direct reports: Trades Academy Pathways Manager, and Principal of MIT's unique 'Tertiary High School' - the School of Secondary Tertiary Studies

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Engaging secondary school leaders, kura, and the wider South Auckland community to partner with MIT in support of vocational pathways
  • Expanding and developing further opportunities for secondary school to MIT pathways and transition activities
  • Partnering with internal MIT stakeholders and negotiating win win outcomes to maximise vocational opportunities for students
  • Oversee Trades Academy, and STAR activity, contracts, and reporting

We are looking for:

  • An energetic, responsive leader with mana who brings established networks within the education sector and South Auckland community to expand pathways and transition activities.
  • A collaborative approach and emotional intelligence to engage and coordinate pathways and transitions with internal and external stakeholders such as Heads of Schools, Principals and curriculum leaders,
  • Evidence of working successfully with Secondary Schools, Kura and diverse communities.
