Achieving the best health outcomes for Northland communities starts with expecting the best from ourselves. We ensure every member of our team has the opportunity to develop, grow and stay inspired. Here, you can make an impact on your community and on your own professional development – all whilst enjoying a flexible and healthy work-life balance.

Northland DHB is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and holds stewardship for equitable health outcomes for Māori as Tāngata Whenua as the highest priority.

Start your journey with Northland DHB - we are looking for an exceptional qualified teacher to join the paediatric team at Whangarei Hospital.

When a child is sick we still think about their other needs. It’s important that we maintain their learning and development, minimise stress and enhance their ability to cope with illness, hospitalisation and treatments.

Our pediatric service has a caring team of specialists from a variety of professions, including hospital play specialists.

You will work in partnership with individuals, families, whānau and community using a multi/interdisciplinary model of care.

This role involves maintaining normal developmental goals, the ability to plan, implement and evaluate appropriate programmes and assisting children and young people with issues relating to hospitalisation and illness.

You will need to be an excellent communicator who is able to build a rapport quickly with those around you, you will need to be reliable, have a sense of humour, great organisational skills and also be able to think outside of the square.

You will need to be a fully registered ECE teacher with an early childhood trained Diploma (minimum).
