We have an exciting opportunity for a kaiako to join our team in Hamilton at our Whaihanga Early Learning Centre. This is a full-time, permanent position working 40 hours per week.
Central Kids Whaihanga is situated in the grounds of Knighton Normal School in the suburb of Hillcrest in Hamilton. Due to the proximity of the Waikato University, our centre provides quality care and education for tamariki within a short distance of this facility and also for the wider community.
Whaihanga is a small intimate centre. All kaiako are qualified and have a clear commitment to the Central Kids philosophy of using play as a vehicle for future learning. We promote a strong whānau-like atmosphere supported by tuakana/teina relationships among tamariki, and a ‘key kaiako’ system effectively supporting tamariki and their sense of wellbeing and promotes responsive relationships with whānau.

A passion for working within a mixed-age centre, with both U2 and O2 aged tamariki
Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Te Whāriki

Able to work within a team who have a strong commitment to supporting the social and emotional growth of tamariki
Able to demonstrate a growth mindset, be open and willing to change that enables us to continue providing high-quality early education to all tamariki who attend our services
ECE qualified and hold current certification and a current first aid certificate.
