Western and Eastern Bay of Plenty, January 2022

Sport Bay of Plenty is looking for a Healthy Active Learning Advisor in both Western and Eastern Bay of Plenty to play a critical role in Phase 2 of Healthy Active Learning.

Healthy Active Learning is a joint wellbeing initiative between Sport New Zealand and the Ministries of Health and Education. The aim of Healthy Active Learning is to help primary and intermediate schools and kura create healthy, active school environments by supporting school leaders and teachers to:

  • better plan and implement the Health and Physical Education and Hauora Curriculum.
  • identify and develop opportunities for quality physical activity experiences for tamariki (ages 5–11).
  • advise on how to establish healthy eating and drinking practices.

These are exciting roles with a big vision. You will work closely with Boards of Trustees, Principals, senior leaders and teachers of primary and intermediate schools and kura to provide advice and customised support. This will enable schools to strategise, plan and develop systems that contribute to the development of an active and healthy school culture that delivers quality physical activity experiences for tamariki through a greater understanding and value of the Health and Physical Education and Hauora curriculum.

The successful candidate will hold the following:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, in education.
  • Experience working with schools and/or kura
  • Experience in designing and facilitating professional learning and development opportunities
  • Knowledge and understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and/or Te Marautanga o Aotearoa
  • Extensive knowledge of the Health and Physical Education and Hauora Curriculum with practical delivery experience.

This job starts January, 2022.
