We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or professional leader who would like to be part of a forward-thinking team passionate about teaching and education!

Our Teacher Capability and Collaboration (TC&C) team is looking for a Senior Advisor to join their team and work across different innovative initiatives for the teaching profession.

The Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand | Matatū Aotearoa is the professional body for teachers and provides direction for the teaching profession from early childhood education through primary and secondary schooling in English and Māori medium settings.

Matatū Aotearoa is a Te Tiriti led and values-based organisation.

As senior advisor, you will work collaboratively with teachers and professional leaders in the development and implementation of multiple initiatives, supporting their practice, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our work programme. You will bring your expert project management skills to design, develop, and implement the Council’s various strategic initiatives and advise on the ongoing development of our Initial Teacher education and competence functions.

  • Relevant education or teaching qualification
  • Current teaching practising certificate
  • Previous experience in leading initiatives or supporting leadership with strengthening teachers’ practice within a school or ECE setting
  • Experience providing feedback and supporting teachers’ performance and growth using Our Code, Our Standards | Ngā Tikanga Matatika, Ngā Paerewa
  • Experience managing different projects at once, ensuring processes are followed and outcomes are delivered on time and in budget
  • Strong competency in te reo and tikanga Māori will be an advantage
  • An understanding of the needs of Pasifika people will be beneficial.
