Tukituki house needs a new house dean from January 2022!
The house dean role requires a range of skills and personal qualities. At any time you might be required to demonstrate: stamina, empathy, the ability to be organised and organise others (staff and students), relate to parents with diplomacy, be involved in behaviour management, carry out difficult conversations and keep the associated paperwork up to date - sometimes all at the same time! You will need to lead house assemblies and be a visible leader at school events. The house dean is a classroom-based teacher who is an experienced curriculum and pedagogical leader with excellent knowledge of the NZ Curriculum, the Hastings Intermediate local curriculum and strategic goals.
The role comes with classroom release so that you can support staff and students in your team. There are 2FT units attached to this role. In addition to other meetings, house deans meet together once a week to contribute to and reflect on school-wide big picture decision-making. House deans lead weekly team meetings.
