Sport Northland is currently looking for a healthy active learning facilitator for the Far North area to join the Active Communities Team within our passionate organisation.

 Mō te tūranga | Primary Purpose

To work with Boards of Trustees, Principals, senior leaders and teachers of targeted primary and intermediate schools and kura Kaupapa to create healthy, active school environments with strong connections to their communities. 

To support school leaders and teachers to better plan and implement the health and physical education curriculum, identify and develop opportunities for quality physical activity experiences for tamariki (in school), work alongside school staff to understand holistic approaches to health and wellbeing in schools and connect with kaupapa māori approaches to hauora and education.

 A healthy active learning facilitator will have:

  • Experience working with primary and intermediate schools
  • Experience in designing and facilitating professional learning and development opportunities
  • Experience in facilitating change within a school setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and/or Te Marautanga o Aotearoa
  • Extensive knowledge of the Health and Physical Education Curriculum with practical delivery experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of how the sport and education sectors interact to deliver PE, sport, active recreation and play opportunities for tamariki.
