We have a full-time, permanent position in this key leadership role from the start of 2022. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a team of other curriculum leaders in similar positions within our school! This position is comparable to a head of department role.
RJHS provides a unique, challenging and enjoyable environment to teach in. We place significant emphasis on working and learning collaboratively and believe as a leadership team we offer our staff the opportunity to contribute actively to the direction of the school and importantly to realise their own potential as an educator.
A critical consideration for all applicants is the expectation that all teachers will be willing to teach in collaborative teams within an integrated approach at all levels of the school (Y7–10). Our staff understand how challenging this can be and we are all exceptionally supportive of encouraging successful applicants to adapt their practice. If you are an amazing teacher in your current environment, you will continue to be amazing at RJHS!
As the curriculum leader of social sciences you will need to be committed to an integrated approach to teaching social sciences and be able to model this effectively in your own practice. We would like someone who is passionate about incorporating local and NZ history into learning programmes. Evidence of catering effectively for learners from Level 2 through to Level 6 of NZC is essential.
While we provide education to our Y7–10 learners it is an expectation that this new leader will work closely with the senior social sciences leader to provide a seamless Y7–13 programme. The successful person will be someone who is able to think creatively and lead innovation in the learning area of social sciences to inspire and empower students and teachers alike!
