We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible person to manage our established childcare centre, lead our committed teaching team, and engage with our community, neighbouring kindergarten and school. This is a full-time role, with some time each week spent working alongside teachers and children. We are open to negotiate the total hours per week for the role, to suit the ideal applicant. 

Kowhai Tui Childcare (https://kowhaitui.co.nz/) is a community-based, non-profit ECE centre which follows Steiner principles. We are open 50 weeks a year (shutdown over Christmas/New Year) from 7.30am–5.30pm and licensed for up to 60 mixed-age children across two Whare. Have a strong focus on creating a nurturing, home-like environment that is peaceful for children to grow and develop at their own pace. We are committed to providing a relationship-based care setting as the foundation for children to be secure & free to play & learn.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience in leading a team
  • Operational, management skills and experience
  • Administration experience
  • Passion, warmth, who can work happily within our small centre environment and its special character
  • Willingness to embrace the philosophy at the heart of Kowhai Tui Childcare, and experience or interest in Steiner/Waldorf education within Aotearoa NZ
  • An ECE qualification 
  • Willingness to be flexible, adaptable.
