WAS seek a teacher who is able to teach food technology / home economics and also manage a hospitality class. This is a newly created position.

The successful applicant will manage our Ka Ora, Ka Ako – Free Lunches in Schools (FLIS) programme. WAS will be moving to an 'Internal Model' where we will be designing and preparing our own kai for all our tamariki. There will be other part-time staff and trained student volunteers that you will be responsible for.

The trained student volunteers will be managed as a hospitality class where they will learn life skills, health, food and nutrition. NCEA credits would be expected to be gained for a small number of senior students.

Food tech / home economics will be expected to be taught in Y7–10 throughout parts of the year. There are other staff members who can teach food tech and it may well mean the job entails supporting/managing them.

We have a fully equipped food tech room and a hall with a fully functional brand new kitchen at your finger tips!

The successful applicant will have good time management skills and have the ability to work with others in an approachable manner. You must be kid friendly!

Upgraded school housing is available. We are open to supporting you in relocation costs.

Western Southland is a hidden treasure with so much to offer.

We look forward to hearing from you.
