This is a part-time 0.8 position (32 hours per week) in an established and well-resourced kindergarten in Waiuku.
Our kindergarten is in a rural setting, providing care and education for 40 children between the ages of 2 and 6. We operate from 8am–5pm and are open during the school holidays. The 0.8 position is 5 days a week and hours can be negotiated.
Our outdoor area is large and natural, and gardening with the children is an ongoing part of our everyday. We are proud to be a Silver Enviroschool, where sustainable practices and instilling a love of nature are core parts of our curriculum. Maintaining warm, reciprocal relationships with whānau and tamariki are important to us. Our aim is to support children in building social and emotional competence, developing into capable and confident learners.
We are seeking a teacher who has experience working in a mixed age setting and for whom inclusive practice is a strength.
Sound knowledge of He Mapuna te tamaiti and Te Whāriki are important, as is a willingness to keep learning, a ‘can-do’ attitude and a sense of humour. The ideal candidate will have good communication and relationship building skills, along with effective planning and assessment practices.
A commitment bicultural practices and our Enviroschool kauapapa are expected. If you teach from the heart, are self-motivated and fun-loving then we would like to hear from you.
Applicants require a minimum Level 7 Diploma or Bachelor of Teaching ECE, current first aid certificate and current teacher registration practicing certificate.
Start date: To be negotiated.
