Portobello School is a twenty-five minute drive from Dunedin City. It is a semi-rural full primary school, situated on the stunning Otago Peninsula. Established in 1857, the school is a rich part of the cultural, environmental, and community landscape that makes the Otago Peninsula a uniquely special place.
The cultural diversity and environment creates a community where the children of Portobello thrive and learn. The school has a strong relationship with its Māori community, and established links with Te Rūnaka o Ōtākou. This is a strong part of the school's whakapapa to which we remain committed.
We are searching for a principal with proven leadership skills who is able to join our experienced teaching team for two exciting, action-packed years while our current principal is on leave. This is a teaching principal role (0.6 management, 0.4 teaching) through which you will get to know all the wonderful tamariki within the school.
This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced educator looking to return to principalship, or an aspiring team-leader looking to expand their professional leadership experience. Could this be you?
If you have…
knowledge and experience in te reo Māori, te ao Māori, and tikanga,
proven teaching skills in literacy, numeracy, with experience in growth mindset and learner agency,
the ability to pick up and run with established strategic goals,
And you are…
open-minded, flexible, and value good work-life balance,
an effective communicator who values building positive relationships,
calm and purposeful under pressure,
approachable, compassionate, dependable, and a good listener,
a focused, organised leader who can motivate a team, and earn the respect of others,
...then we want to hear from you!
